Happy New Year!

Blessings on the New Year!
The New Year brings two new friends!
We are thrilled to have them in our CCLS Family!

 Share Time
Each day, the children look forward to Share Time. Each day the helpers of the day also have their Share Day. They are able to bring something special from home to tell the rest of the class about it. This is a time for the children to gain confidence in speaking in front of others.

On Friday we had a visit from Ellie!

Weather Journals
This month, we started our weather journals. Each day the children find their weather journal, practice/write the number for the day, and fill in the box about how they understand the weather outside. The weather journals help the children with number recognition and to be on the look out for how the weather is always changing.

Photo Journals
Each month, the children do a photo journal for their portfolios.  They work on their writing skills and letter formation. With December being so busy, we had to play catch up on our December pictures.

Snow
With children and teachers anticipating winter snowfall, we started to create a Winter Wonderland in our classroom!

Winter Words
Working on letter formation, and sounding out words

How Many Snowball Tall Are You?
Working in groups of two and three the class measured each other out of snowballs. The team work was wonderful to watch, working together as a team! They were able to work on their one to one counting skills.

Becoming A Snowman!
After counting how many snowballs tall they each were, it was time to turn them into snowman.  Each child was traced and then they cut themselves out. Next they made a plan for how they want to decorate themselves, and this week we will be putting them all together.

Where does water freeze, inside or outside?
Which freezes faster,
 warm water or cold water?
These are two questions with which our class experimented.
We found out that water freezes faster outside on a cold day then inside by the cold window. We also did an experiment with warm water, (not hot water), to see which froze first. The cold water froze faster than the warm water.

J-A-N-A-U-A-R-Y
In small groups the class figured out how to use their bodies to form the different letters in the word January. They came up with some pretty creative ways.

Letter "J"
Letter "A"
Letter "A"
Letter "N"
Letter "N"
Letter "U"
Letter "U"
Letter "R"
Letter "Y"
More classroom fun!

Our class twins!

Blessings on your week!
