MAGIC HOUSE TRIPS
We had our first Magic House trip of the school year. Our class has been working very hard on walking in line, following the friend in front of you, and using "listening ears." All these skills were used as we walked across the
street to the Magic House.

**Thank you to all the parents that were able to help us on our trips.**
Ms. Bridget goes over the rules for "A Little Bit of Magic Area."

You always have to check out the mouse house!
The house is always changing!

Heading to Construction!
Due to the Magic House having their own construction, we were unable to do our story time. Instead, we were able to head to the Construction area of the Magic House. This was very exciting since this is not part of our normal Magic House time.

 Story and Exploration Time:
Each visit to the Magic House will have story and exploration activities for our class. This time, our story was about the pumpkins the mice grew at the Magic House.
Exploration Activities:
*using thongs to fill up mini-pumpkins with pumpkin seeds,
* measuring pumpkins with ribbons,
* weighing different fruits and veggies,
*a pumpkin story board
*racing different veggies down drain spouts.

Seek, Find, Sort, Count, and Make Patterns
It has been exciting to watch the children exploring with the noodles and gems. They have been coming up with a lot of different math concept ideas.

Working on patterns. Continuing on...what would come next?
Matching letters to beginning site words.

Leaf Man
We read the story Leaf Man By Lois Ehlert, a story of how leaves travel across the land. The children were given many different sizes and shapes of plastic leaves to create their own Leaf Man or leaf animal. (We used plastic leaves so that the children would be able to save their projects, since real leaves would crumble.)

Cutting
The children love to cut! They love to cut anything. It is such a good skill to learn. It helps build up their muscles in their hands which helps with pencil grips, which leads to writing, which then leads to reading.  Below, some of the children are cutting out pumpkins for our pumpkin patch.
