New backpacks, lunch boxes, shoes, haircuts and school supplies....it all means that it is time for school to start again. Coming into 4-year-old preschool means that the children have one more year before Kindergarten. Therefore, starting from the very first day of school, we work on a daily routine of inside and outside play, morning prayer, Jesus time, morning meeting, snack, center time, story time, and figuring out who is in our class each day.
It has been such a joy watching the children arrive at school and check on our new class pet, "Timmy the Turtle", before they put away backpacks.
This week we are spending time getting ready for our school year by making cubbie tags, learning where the different areas of the classroom are, and making "signs" for those areas, coloring noodles for the sensory table, creating self portraits to decorate the walls, determining and voting on some classrooms guidelines.
