This week during morning center time we started digging in the scrap box for things we can use to make turkeys. Our turkeys are all different shapes and sizes. Some of the turkeys are wearing hats, others have lots of feathers, while some only have one feather. This open activity invited the children to use their creative minds, work on their cutting skills, and develop conversation skills while talking to one another while crafting the turkeys. The turkeys are hanging all around the room. Please see them at drop off!

What is Thanksgiving?
This week and next week we will learn about why we celebrate Thanksgiving. We will learn about the Pilgrims and the Native Americans and how they started our country. And, we will learn why our nation takes time each year to thank God for the many blessings he has given us.
Last Picnic for awhile!
I Am Thankful Trees
The children are working on their I am Thankful Trees. They each painted their own tree and came up with six different things for which they are thankful, each one written on a leaf on the tree. We will finish the project this week.
Sticky Paper Design
Ripping and tearing paper, Crunching and twisting paper. All are activities which help build up the muscles in their little hands. When the muscles in their hands are strong, this helps their writing and pencil holding. The children made two beautiful designs that are hanging in our classroom windows.
Projects with Miss Daysha
Miss Daysha, our Kirkwood High School buddy will be working on Thanksgiving turkeys with the children throughout the week.
Clay Turkey Friends
Using model magic, markers, and feathers, the children were able to craft their own turkey friend.
Roll-A-Turkey
In this game, the children roll the dice and count the dots. Next, they match the number with the part of the turkey they get to draw. There are two types of turkey sheets, using one dice counting 1-6, or two dice counting up to 12.
Blessings on your week!
